Frequently Asked Questions
on Wedding Photography
Your wedding day is a big deal and I'm sure you have a question or two as you continue your planning.
It is my desire to be a valuable asset and resource to you in this process. My couples rely on me for advice and suggestions through all the phases of planning. I leave my communication lines open so I can help or find someone who can. Below you will find a list of some of the most frequently asked questions I have received over the years.
-
What is your pricing?Every wedding is different and comes with its own set of unique needs. I have a base rate for several different types of wedding. Most typically couples spend about $7,000 and it can range down to $3,500. For a full pricing list contact me here.
-
Do you edit your images? What is your turnaround time? You betcha'. All the images I deliver are beautifully edited and ready to show off, print, and cherish. My turnaround time is usually 4-6 weeks, depending on time of year. I prefer to under promise and over deliver.
-
How many images will we get?All weddings are different weddings. So there is range depending on the size of your wedding and the amount of hours you have hired me for. Anywhere between 400-800. I generally photograph and deliver just a touch more than necessary to ensure I got everything you'll want and need.
-
How long do you photograph on a wedding day.Typical wedding days photographically are 10-12 hours. Basically all day coverage, or from getting ready all the way to last events of the reception. This allows me to document your entire day into a collection of images that is a story.
-
What is your photography style?I enjoy photographing the things that happen once. Candids and photo documentary style are the heart of my approach. This includes portraits, though there is prompting and directing involved there for sure. I've got a bit of fine art photographer in me as well. It's a thoughtful blend.
-
Where are you located?I'm located in the East Bay area and photograph California and most of the west coast.
-
Do we really need a second photographer? Most of the time no. But sometimes. It depends on the size of your event or if there are complexities in locations. 95% of the work you see on my site are wedding I did solo. While I'd love another photographer to kick it with on the day of your wedding, it may end up being an unnecessary expense.
-
Who should be included in family portraits?I prioritize family photos on the wedding day as it is rare that every one will ever be in the same place again. Crazy, but true, have you met your family? Depending on family size, I usually start with a big group photo of both sides and work down from there spending the majority of the time on immediate family and grandparents. I like to make a list with my couples so we ensure everyone is included who needs to be included. Please also let me know of any unique family circumstances like divorced parents, stepparents, etc.

We are really camera shy - help!I gotcha. I want to ensure you that you look your best. Trust me, you look your best when you are relaxed and not thinking about being photographed, I help my couples get there. Most of my work on a wedding day is candid and when it comes to couple portraits you'll be interacting with your beloved mostly, not with me. I'm there to help guide you through it. You got this!
