The School of Life

BRANDING, ART DIRECTION, VISUAL DESIGN, PRODUCT DESIGN

The School of Life is a passionate group of people on a mission to bring about healing, growth, calm, and self-understanding.

They derive their ideas from psychology, psychotherapy, philosophy, art, and culture. As thier name – The School of Life – suggests, they exist to teach people how life can be lived and what can make it truly worthwhile, effective, and fulfilling.

Years ago I discovered the field of Positive Psychology, a fresh new take on Clinical Psychology. Its approach differs in its opening question. Clinical Psychology may start with the question “What is wrong with you and how can we bring you back to baseline?” Positive Psychology may start with the question “What is going well for you and how can we build upon that? How can we enable you to thrive not just reach baseline?”

Small shifts in thinking such as this can produce very large results. Positive Psychology’s approach begins with a different question. Psychology is such an emerging science and there is so much about the mind we don’t know. This makes it exciting, the not know part, because there is so much to discover. This curiosity and search for improvement are The School of Life’s guiding principles. It is this approach and mindset that sets this brand in motion and makes it a gem of a resource for those looking to help in their mental well-being.

My Role and Contribution to this project.

BRANDING, ART DIRECTION, VISUAL DESIGN, PRODUCT DESIGN
I worked and led a team of designers to help update the current website's visual system as well as content strategy to help place the products and services users most wanted.

Conducted research and interviews of users to establish what their wants from the product were and what the pain points were.

Building and leveraging from the visual system updates and user research I helped to establish a visual system and user flow for The School of Life app.
